• We are a Progressive Christian community, offering Christ’s reconciliation, hope, and healing to all people.
  • We are a joyful and praising-God kind of church! We hold strongly to reconciliation among all faiths, ethnicities, and diversities. We reverently claim the power of prayer to heal and change life, and experience great joy in seeing God’s redemptive love in everyday life.
  • We are a church where someone can “bump into us” along the way to other places — at a yard sale, a spiritual garden, a coffee house Bible study, youth activities, a pet blessing, at local senior housing and the teen center …
  • We are a new, new church for a new, new century. We stand in a strong tradition and heritage of bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to a hungry broken world. Come and experience New Creation Lutheran Church: a new kind of church.

A Bit of History

New Creation Lutheran Church was Chartered here in south San Jose on November 5th 1995. With a vision for the future and a pre-school up and running, we were about to begin the call process for a pastor. Everything came to a halt when the entire building was destroyed by an arson fire on December 28th 1995. The members met for Sunday services at parks, Los Paseos School’s cafeteria, and at Rancho Santa Teresa Swim and Racquet club. The rebuilding process took a long time but we had faith that we would see it through. Some of the members literally swung hammers. Friends came to paint the entire building and install all the new carpeting. By the grace of God and with the help of its determined members and friends, New Creation was re-opened and dedicated on February 8th, 1998.

Pastor Anne Carlson came to us in 2004, helping us form a clear vision for the future. Active small groups, music, and youth programs keep us growing and evolving. Our children are very much involved with our service. God indeed intended for us to be here in south San Jose. There are still many things to be done. New Creation is indeed a new kind of church.
