What's New @ New Creation

Upcoming Special Services - Maundy Thursday and Footwashing - Good Friday - Easter Sunday Celebrations

Maundy Thursday – April 5, 2012

Also known as Holy Thursday, this is the day many Christians honor the day of the Last Supper, when Jesus shared a meal with his friends and followers, taught us to share and remember the bread and wine of communion, and washed the feet of his companions. New Creation will be holding a worship service with an optional foot washing by our confirmation students this evening at 7:30 pm.

Good Friday – April 6, 2012
This is the day Christians mark the crucifixion of Jesus. New Creation will hold a prayerful service with quiet music and readings on the Stations of the Cross. These stations powerfully describe the steps Jesus took through his betrayal, trial, journey to the cross, and crucifixion. 11:30 am and 7:30 pm. (Hint – It’s not the end – come back on Sunday!)

Easter Sunday – April 8, 2012
On the third day, he rose again!  A joyful celebration of the Risen Lord Jesus!
Our sanctuary will be filled with colorful butterflies for the Easter season, the coffee will be fresh and hot, and there will be goodies to share between services.

  • Sunrise Service – 6:30 am. Songs, communion, Easter message, etc.  And coffee.
  • Celebration Service – 10:30 am.

Please note there will be no 9 am service on Easter Sunday.
Egg hunt at around 11:45 or so, just after the 10:30 service!

Upcoming Service Times

Feb 19 - One service at 10:30
Pancake breakfast (fundraiser for our Youth trip to New Orleans in July)

Feb 22 - Ash Wednesday Services, noon and 7:30 pm

Feb 26 - Two Services
  • 9:00am - New format - simplified, pared down service with prayers, communion, and interactive study of the Bible readings (doesn't have a name yet – any ideas?)
  • 10:30am - "Rock Your Soul" service
After that, we'll be following the Feb 26 model (svcs at 9 and 10:30) and the 9 am service format may evolve as the worship and music team works with the folks who attend this service to meet their needs.

What is a TEEM Team?

Our Theological Education for Emerging Ministries (TEEM) team was formed after we voted in January to pull them together to help us make an informed decision about New Creation’s participation in the program.

TEEM is a program of theological education that prepares women and men theologically, academically and spiritually for ordained ministry in the ELCA.  It is a program of the Western Mission Cluster, administered by Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, in active partnership with Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

The team consists of Loretta Sahoo, Dana Dimas, and Bevlee Doran.  They are anxious to hear from you about what you want to know to make that informed decision.  They are working to summarize the TEEM Program, and to arrange various opportunities to learn more about the program and to get to know Cristina Beauchemin even better.  Cristina has applied for the program, and the Bishop has approved her pursuit.

The question you need to decide is do we want to participate with, and support, Cristina in her desire to become an ordained pastor.  It is highly likely that this would result in a seamless transition at New Creation as Pastor Anne approaches her desire to retire.  What do you think?  The team wants to know what you think you need to know so you can decide!

Let the team hear from you.  Call them. Send them an email.  Snag them after church.  They are not going to make a recommendation…they exist only to equip you to make a decision.
